2020 WHITE MOUNTAINS BALLOON FESTIVAL
presented by Sierra Propane
JUNE 26TH - 28TH
The launch for Sunday morning, June 28th, has been canceled due to high winds.
6/23/20 UPDATE: This week we will welcome 16 hot air balloon pilots to town for a balloon rally. The Third Annual White Mountains Balloon Festival, presented by Sierra Propane, will proceed as scheduled Friday through Sunday, but without the festival. While we won't have food vendors, live music, or other activities, the balloons will take flight, weather permitting, each morning at about 6:45 a.m. from Mountain Meadow Recreation Complex, 1101 S. Woodland Road. Spectators are encouraged to view the balloons from locations in the projected flight path, following social distancing guidelines. For those coming to the park, please note that masks will be required for spectators who want to access the launch field. This is for the protection of our pilots, crew members, and passengers. Spectators without masks may still come to view the launch but will be restricted to one of the fenced baseball fields. Also, be aware that pilots, passengers, and crew members are exempt from the mask requirement be FAA regulations. At the altitude they will be flying, oxygen levels will be such that wearing a mask is not safe. However, all pilots,
passengers, and crew members will be screened and will be required to have their temperature taken and recorded per CDC guidelines. Also, we will have a "Drive-Thru” Balloon Glow on Saturday evening at the park. Balloons will arrive at about 7:30 to set up and will glow from about 8 to 9 p.m. Vehicles may drive through the park perimeter road to view the balloon glow, but passengers may not exit their vehicles. We will allow vehicles to stop very briefly to take photos, but they will have to keep moving also as not to restrict traffic.
*All balloon activity is weather permitting.
